The value of insights: Architecture, Anthropology and the Collaborative Production of Urban Form

The world population is predicted to increase, reaching estimated 8.6 billion in 2030, two-thirds of which will be living in cities. This exponential growth calls for a pursuit of sustainable and smart solutions, crafted at the intersections between disciplines and sectors of construction. In order to improve urban design practices, and produce inclusive, sustainable and smart cities that take into account the socio-cultural complexities of contemporary life, great interest has in recent years been paid to ethnographic methods and anthropological analysis.

In this seminar, we will explore the sort of tools and analytical perspectives which are emerging within collaborative settings, the value of anthropology for architecture and urban design process and practice, and the sort of significance do these multidisciplinary collaborations have in stimulating business drivers of Danish companies.

The invited speakers, academics and practitioners, will share their experiences of building sustainable and inclusive cities, the challenges and the kind of potentials which arise in transdisciplinary collaboration.

InnoBYG is co-organizer on the event.
